What a day for Gloucestershire, not content with hosting the start of a major stage race, we host the finish too.
Only two Eastgate members decided to ride to the start, leaving the Farmers just after 9 and arriving just as the women’s teams were being introduced on the podium. A few applauses given, Jim and Andrea then went to Spring Gardens to see the team buses and rub shoulders with the pros warming up. Andrea was rather taken by the impressive Liv team bikes and Jim by the very pink EF Education TIBCO SVB jerseys.
After watching the start the two then returned to Gloucester appreciating the applause from a few hundred schoolchildren and a few dozen confused spectators.
Back at Gloucester Docks there was a mini festival of cycling and a well fought out sprint finish up to the CD Rack (Kimbrose Tower).
Hopefully they’ll be more interest and greater numbers when the club do a very similar ride for the men’s race in September.
