A gorgeous evening with several groups out and lots of returning riders: Dave & Liz opting not to do a bridge loop for a change and come out on a Wednesday for the first time this year, Dave Mackey returning from his leg injury, Andy Reeve testing his stamina following on from his heart operation and Barry riding for the first time in ages after his neck issues (apologies if I’ve missed anyone).
Gareth was held back a bit by two old boys trying to keep up with him and his shiny new bike speed while the long group had a few punctures, a dropped light and self-removing cleat bolts (still maintaining a 24mph average though!).
If anyone knows any of the organisers of motorbike clubs that are out on Wednesday (particularly those that were riding between Highnam and Over) please let me know as I’d like to get in touch.
It was great to see lots of people back at the Farmers club enjoying their usual fayre too with people heartily tucking into the sausage/scampi and chips.
11 stages into the Giro and Dan’s Delinquent Descending Drafters have crept to the top of our fantasy league just 12 points ahead of his mum’s Crash Dummies. Several of us are suffering from the mass of withdrawals crippling our teams. It’s great to see G in pink again though and will be interesting to see if he can keep it until the final day and our Giro themed ride and social in 10 days time. Please do add your name to event, selecting which route (or social only) you’d prefer so Gareth knows how many pizzas to order. The routes have been posted and there’s short or long choices available.
Don’t forget the Wednesday after our Giro ride won’t have regular ride-outs as we’re taking over the Evesham Velo Park Circuit for the evening. It should be a lot of fun as we’ll have exclusive use of the track and coaches on hand to give us drills and tips to helps us get the most out of the session. Please add your names to the event and use the comments if you’ve got space in your vehicle for other riders and their bikes or if you need a lift.
Don’t forget that we’re still taking deposits for Tour too which is now only 4 months away.
Happy riding!
