Well...what can I say...

Happy New Year!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and plenty of bicycle shaped presents!

Just a handful out this evening with 3 going long and 5 going short for a pleasantly mild and relatively dry ride-out. The route name of flood dodging harks back to when it was created as an alternative to the regularly flooded lanes around Elmore although there were still some pretty big puddles to traverse.

With fewer riders, post ride sustenance came in bar-snack form rather than the usual pizza but our mouths were watering from the thought of Martyn’s catering scale bœuf bourguignon that may last for weeks leading to various critiques of local restaurants (e.g. Primavera is better than The Ivy in Cheltenham and Topolys is better than Settebello in Gloucester) and Cook on the Bath road offering the best “Home made ready meal” option of anywhere else while crisps, pork scratchings and KitKats kept the beer company in place of anything more delectable.

With virtually a whole new year ahead of us, we’ve got some exciting things to look forward to! In particular keep your eyes peeled to sign up for a trip to the Velodrome in the coming weeks (thanks to Kamilla for her work on this) and an overseas tour (thanks to Martyn for his work on this). Separate news posts and event details in the App will be posted shortly.

There’s some interesting chat in the App sharing goals and aspirations for 2024 – what are yours?

The weather is looking OK for the weekend and another opportunity to burn off the Christmas excesses.

Happy riding!
